Negative Group Velocity Superluminal Propagation in Optical Fibers Using Stimulated Brillouin Scattering
نویسندگان
چکیده
We demonstrated the superluminal propagation at negative group velocity using stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in optical fibers. In the scheme, the Stokes wave is circulated back into the ring cavity for Brillouin lasing to enhance the peak loss. The experiment demonstrated the superluminal light propagation can be realized by increasing the input signal power. The largest time advancement of 221.2ns has been observed. Correspondingly, the negative group velocity is -0.15c and the group index is -6.636.

We experimentally demonstrate an extremely simple technique to achieve pulse advancements in optical fibers by using both spontaneous amplified and stimulated Brillouin scattering. It is shown that the group velocity of a light signal is all-optically controlled by its average power while it propagates through an optical fiber. The signal generates an intense back-propagating Stokes emission th...

متن کاملComprehensive Theoretical Study on Threshold Power of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Single-Mode Fibers
We have investigated and developed a theoretical approach to explore stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) phenomena in single mode fiber. SBS happening threshold power condition has been studied in terms of fiber parameters and input pump power. To assess threshold power precisely, the pump depletion effect and fiber loss has been included by employing 1% criterion. The threshold exponential g...
